Fellow Ephs,
Recently, we announced our new Williams in Washington Networking Initiative and held a very successful kickoff cocktail party at Topaz with over 100 attendees. Over the years, many of you have mentioned to us that you would like to see us step up our networking efforts here in DC.
Now it's your turn -- please consider participting in our networking effort to enrichen our Williams career network here in Washington. No matter what stage of career you are in -- recent graduate, mid-career professional, seasoned expert, or retiree, we invite you to participate!
As a reminder, there are three components to our networking effort. Your participation is welcome in any and/or all!
- Networking Groups
- Monthly Career Lunches
- Career Advising on Ephnet
Below are details on how to participate and enrichen our Williams career page
network here in Washington.
Networking Groups
- Career-specific Networking Groups are the backbone of our networking effort.
- Groups provide opportunities for local alums within a specific career field to network with one another.
- Each group will have its own listserve so members can easily communicate with your peers to network, ask questions, and contribute information.
- Groups may arrange happy hours, lunches, lectures, or other events "as needed"
We currently have groups for the following fields: Education, Environment and Public Health, Finance, Government and Public Policy, Journalism, Law, Nonprofits, and Technology. To sign up follow the instructions below:
Instructions on how to sign up are below.

Monthly Career Lunches
- Career lunches feature alums meeting with a small group of Ephs to discuss their particular job/career (what they do, how they got there, and advice for those just starting out or looking to change fields).
- Especially helpful for young alums and those looking to change fields.
- Lunch speakers play a critical role in helping peers by talking about their career.
- Lunches are not "speeches", but more an introduction to a field and then a general discussion among interested Ephs.
- Lunches are "brown bag" and will be held monthly.
- Lunches may be held in the lunch leader's office or in our Association headquarters in Dupont Circle.
Lunches in the following fields are already in the works:
- Journalism
- International security
- Life on Capitol Hill
